Elevator Pitch

My 30 second pitch about the importance of women in STEM

My project is about my community, women in STEM. The point I want to try to get across to people is that even if you’re not a woman or in STEM, you should care about them because they have the potential to inspire underrepresented groups to pursue the career path that may not usually be considered the norm for them. I also want to explain why it is is so difficult for women to even begin to pursue a career in STEM because even having knowledge that the stereotype of men performing better in STEM fields puts them at a disadvantage and can prevent them from performing at their best. Then my three genres include a Pinterest board, a youtube video, and a poster, and I'm going to use them to spread the awareness about the importance of women in STEM.

Hi, my name is Olivia Caravello and I am an undergraduate female student at Texas Christian University. I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I am a sophomore majoring in Psychology, on the pre-med track. Since coming to college I have been interested in learning more about the inequalities that women in STEM face every day. Therefore, I want to help spread awareness and educate all college students about these injustices.
